1900 PRO 7.1 Android Upgrade BETA (Final version) 7.1 BETA (final version)

1 Screenshot

About This File

ATV 1900 PRO upgrade to Android version 7.1

This is a beta version as we had to build this ourselves without the normal support through regular channels. This will not move passed BETA, so you may encounter minor issues with certain programs, but we currently have no known issues at the moment.

Difficulty level - 3/5

This will not work on the 1900. It is meant for the 1900 PRO.

Notable features:

-Updates from Android 5.1 to 7.1 for better support.
- New Home Screen
- Added Dual Boot Option to Libreelec
- Added Super User Support

****DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE TO 7.1 THROUGH THE OPERATING SYSTEM. IT WILL POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE***

This update must be done using the below method only.

NOTE: Processing this Firmware upgrade will wipe all your Data

How to process the steps:

1. Download the zip file
2. Format your MicroSD Card to FAT32
3. Unzip the files into a folder on your computer before moving to step 4.
4. Drag and drop files from Unzip folder to root of your MicroSD card.  (unzip files to the main part of the card, not in a folder)
5. Insert sd card with files into the 1900 PRO SD card slot
6. Connect HDMI, turn the TV on
7. Hold the Reset button at the back.
8. Hookup power while holding down Reset, via pin
9. Hold for 15 seconds

10. The front side lights should blink red to green repeatedly if the upgrade process has started properly.

you will see the android guy moving, give it 5 -10 minutes and it should bring you to the 7.1 setup screen.

Sorry if this is a n00b question, but after I unzip the downloaded file, I have 7 files, one of which is still zipped. Do I need to further unzip before copying to microSD card, or will that occur during the installation? It makes a difference primarily because I have a free 2GB microSD, but it won't be large enough for the unzipped file along with the other files from the original archive. Thanks.

Hi guys, I followed the instructions exactly and  it seems my device is now bricked. I have tried all means to reboot - including a hard reset and using the boot card with files to revert to  the original OS - no joy. The screen remains black - no video output. The green light is on and there is power glowing to spdif but other than that, nothing.

Pretty disappointed as the box was working well.

Any suggestions?

Disregard the above. I ended up simply copying all 7 files to a 2GB card and following the instructions. Installation proceeded as expected. My only complaint is that none of the included vodeo players seems to have native support for networked sources, but both VLC and Kodi 17.6 seem to work fine with my NAS. (I initially tried Kodi 18.1 but it would not connect to my NAS, returning the error "invalid argument". Uninstalled and installed 17.6, which worked. Haven't tried Kodi 18.0 yet. It may have simply been a bad installation, as 18.1 works fine with my phone and tablet.)

The included players are old and outdated.

So its best to use Kodi, VLC or even Plex for your NAS.

When installing Kodi 18.1, make sure to use the 64 Bit ARM version, as this is 64 Bit Android.

Another minor irritation: since the upgrade, I can no longer turn my unit on using an IR remote (Logitech Harmony), as I could previously. The OEM remote still works, but it's mildly annoying. The Harmony will turn off the 1900 Pro, but will not turn it on. I can't see any obvious settings to change this behaviour.

Did you download the mygica 1900 pro files from harmony? I haven’t used a harmony, but if it’s using IR somehow, it should work. If it’s using it somehow trough the network, then I can see that there could be an issue.

To be honest, I don’t turn my box off. It consumes about $4 of electricity per year, and doesn’t use much less when on standby. Since there’s no moving parts, these things typically last even longer when power cycles aren’t being used.

Another strange hiccup: since the upgrade, my device no longer picks up the time from my network. I thought it was because my internet has been offline (after high winds took out my ISP's transmission site) but noticed another of my MyGica boxes still picks up the time correctly.

Disregard the comment above: after 2-1/2 weeks my internet came back online, and the device is now displaying the correct time. Technology is great when it works, but largely a mystery even then! 😊

I noticed the same thing after upgrading my 495PRO. As a workaround, I added a new learned command (called Power2) to the Harmony's MyGica device to record the OEM's power button. I then added the Power2 command to the end of the "Watch MyGica" activity.

I just tried upgrading 2 ATV 1900 pros and now their both bricked.

Did you do the same method to both of them?

What steps did you take?

Are you located in Canada?

Which remote app are you referring to?

Good to hear the sound is fixed, as for the other issues with mouse pointer will have to compare this
Please note the 7.1 is beta, and will stay that way as we cannot get everything working 100%

I tried the update, but was not happy with new home screen/user interface. Prefer the android 6 version as originally installed. Rolled back to the old version. Also experienced an issue where if the TV is switched on before the device boots, the screen goes green and loses the HDMI signal. have to switch the TV off and back on to resolve.

Hello Support.

I have been running 7.1 without issues until recently when the Netflix App refused to connect to the Internet.

After unsuccessfully forcing the App to connect by CLEARING CACHE/DATA options, I UNINSTALLED "Netflix" hoping to re-install.

Only to find that Netflix on the Playstore reports MyGICA1900Pro as Incompatible

Do you have a working APK of the Netflix App for this version of your Build?

You can get a working version of Netflix from the Aptoide Store which is included on 7.1

Just make sure to follow these steps though

There is an issue with Aptoide/Market  installing the X86 Version of Netflix when users click install and the Buzz boxes use ARM Processors.

You need to uninstall this version, go back to the Market
Look for Netflix, then select Other Versions

And install the Version
6.26.1 Build 15
Dated Feb 26, 2019

We tried this version here and it works
You will just need a mouse in order to use Netflix as it has always been like this.

What is the deal with the 1900 Pro boxes in Canada?
As with a few posts above, I too attempted the update and bricked it.
If there are any solution or suggestions please post.  I've tried hard reset and only get a blank screen and the green "on" light.  I'd like to get it working again.
