Update on my problem. The ATV495PRO no longer functions  in 4k mode on my TV. I set it to 1080p on an older TV and tried it on the tv and it works.

Not too much of a hardship given I don't really have much in the way of 4k media.

One other thing that I noticed with Amazon Prime and Netflix. It seems that Google Play will now deliver mobile phone versions of the app.

The Aptoide version of Netflix was not compatible with the box when I tried that.

So I ended up with the 19th June version for Android boxes that I downloaded from apkmirror.com (thats for Netflix at least).

Haven't looked for how to fix that yet. Maybe from now on I'm gonna being using apkmirror instead of Google Play as a solution.

Other things, the FIle Manager is a huge step back in functionality and Eshare is missing.

The issue with Aptoide is it installs the X86 version of Netflix when ya click Install.  It is installing 4.16
As Aptoide never built in way to detect X86 vs ARM, Google Play has this built in

    The 495 PRO uses ARM
If ya click on Other Versions when looking at Netflix on the Aptoide Store and install Version # 6.26 1

This is the correct working version

Google Play has always installed Mobile Versions of Netflix + Amazon Prime, actually all apps from the Google Play Store on the 495 PRO are Mobile or Tablet Versions
Aptoide though has some Google Play TV apps though, like Amazon Prime.
You just need to search for it.

The remote that came with the unit with the usb adaptor is working but that remote does not work well for netflix so I also use a remote app on my phone to control the box through my wireless network, in the old OS there was an option to turn on the "Remote Control" option to allow another android device to control the android box. I am not able to find this option/setting in the new Android 7.1.2 update.

Try the Cetus Play Remote app on the Playstore + Apple App Store on your phone

This one should work well, without needing the remote option on the firmware.

  3. You can get a working version of Netflix from the Aptoide Store which is included on 7.1

Just make sure to follow these steps though

There is an issue with Aptoide/Market  installing the X86 Version of Netflix when users click install and the Buzz boxes use ARM Processors.

You need to uninstall this version, go back to the Market
Look for Netflix, then select Other Versions

    And install the Version
    6.26.1 Build 15
    Dated Feb 26, 2019

We tried this version here and it works
You will just need a mouse in order to use Netflix as it has always been like this.

    Hello Justin,

Is there a more recent rooted update for the 1900Pro?

My Youtube and Netflix no longer work after a software update.

The Last Rooted Patch shows version 5.1.1

What I see on the download page is "update_MyGica_ATV495_Pro_1900_Pro_wv_5.1_20170324", which is dated before the update you sent in this thread

Here is my version as shown on the TV

    MyGica1900Pro.thumb.jpg.98cd0b2d45eb2b7f375d0cb0af2a3505.jpg

The Android 7.1 files that we released for the 1900P + 495P have a Super User option on them, so you can root the box if you want.

We do not have anymore updates for the 1900P + 495P on Android 5.1

Nice update i had problems with sound before and this is now fix but since update i cannot play games with touch control my magica remote cursor is seen like a mouse pointer instead of a touch control the remote app is missing too and it is the same with google chrome when i move cursor i select text instead of scrolling web page

Which remote app are you referring to?

Good to hear the sound is fixed, as for the other issues with mouse pointer will have to compare this
Please note the 7.1 is beta, and will stay that way as we cannot get everything working 100%

I am having problem unzipping the four files inside "update_MYGICA_S812_S802_Device_5.1_20170612" for my Mygica 1800E for the Android 5.1 upgrade.

They zip files are boot, bootloader, logo and recovery.  Since WinRar will not unzip these files, I use 7-zip but still getting errors saying there are some data after payload data.  How does everyone else unzip these files?  Appreciate if someone can let me know how to unzip these files.

You only have to extract all the files from the Zip folder

Just highlight all the files inside the zip file/folder

And extract them to your desktop, so you can then easily move them onto your SD card.
This can easily be done with Win RAR

So a couple of days using the unit with 7.1 (GUI takes a little getting used to) and the only annoyance is that when the unit is powered down and turned on again, you have to remove and reinsert the HDMI cable for the image to appear on the monitor/TV (have tested on 2 TV's and a 23" monitor).

I attempted the fix that worked for Rick White (Justin advised turning off Automatic Display Resolution in Display settings), unfortunately it still does it.

    Apart from that, happy.

The display issue you describe is something we cannot fix
We found this varies by the TV you use the box on, as we have 8 different brands of TVs in our office and it works fine on 6 of them.

This is the main reason this will stay in Beta, we had another development team to make 7.1, without having the full Uboot files of Android for these boxes.

You can leave the box turned on 24/7, it will use a very small amount of electricity when doing this
Me personally, I haven't turned off my box or rebooted it in over 6 months.

    Hi Support:

Your img file (update_MyGica_ATV495_Pro_1900_Pro_wv_5.1_20170324.img) will not load in USB Burning Tool. It is not a true image; it is simply a renamed zip file with the following contents:
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM        10,631,168 boot.img
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM         1,441,792 bootloader.img
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM            69,225 dtb.img
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM            14,008 file_contexts
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM         5,049,760 logo.img
    03/14/2019  09:46 PM    <DIR>          META-INF
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM        13,248,512 recovery.img
    03/14/2019  09:46 PM    <DIR>          system
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM       953,790,464 system.new.dat
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM                 0 system.patch.dat
    02/28/2008  09:33 PM               282 system.transfer.list
                   9 File(s)    984,245,211 bytes

The img files of many other Android vendors (which work with USB Burning Tool and other Android recovery tools) are quite different. Here's what it looks like when I burn a "proper" img to an SD card - it's only three files.
    03/09/2019  10:23 AM               617 aml_sdc_burn.ini
    03/09/2019  10:21 AM           754,176 aml_sdc_burn.UBOOT
    03/09/2019  10:22 AM       823,394,368 M8SPRO_S905W_A95XR2_9377_2+16_20171122.img
                   3 File(s)    824,149,161 bytes

In an earlier post above, you claim to have used the burning tool method. If that's the case, I'm guessing you have access to other img files that are not currently available via your download section.

    QV

We will release AML file for you guys to use on USB burning tool.
It will be up in the downloads section within a few days + instructions

Well Stickler, you're not alone. After waiting almost 2 years for a promised passthrough audio fix, I was absolutely shocked that MyGica actually came through with an Android upgrade. Unfortunately, despite carefully following the steps, my 495PRO promptly bricked. During the "upgrade" attempt (with a new SanDisk 32GB SD card), I saw absolutely no activity. There was no Android on screen, no flashing light, no menu - just black. I waited 30 minutes but it's dead. The only ray of hope is that the power light works and my PC recognizes the device when plugged in via USB. Normally, this would mean that I could attempt to recover the box with "USB Burning Tool", but it will not load MyGica's (non-standard?) img file.

Support@mygica.com has been prompt but ABYSMAL. I asked if they had a method of unbricking and/or a proper recovery img file (containing 3 files: aml_sdc_burn.ini, aml_sdc_burn.UBOOT, and 495PRO.img). Their (shocking) response was "what Android 7.1 upgrade?" and they asked for the URL and a picture of the box. I sent both (as well as a photo of the NAND chip in case pins need to be shorted for flashing) and the response was:

Actually, this product does not support 7.1 system.
You can follow our latest products which support 7.1.

Obviously they have no idea what their own company is doing and they didn't even bother opening my link. I'll probably try to submit another request via their support ticket webpage, but I'm not hopeful.

    You emailed support@mygica.com
This is handled by China Head Office
Our support in North America is support@mygica.tv

We paid for 7.1 Upgrade ourselves and did it separately from the China Office, so that is probably why they responded like that for 7.1

We we be releasing the required AML files for USB Burning tool for your device, so you can try to revive it
It will be posted on the forums within the next few days.

Disregard the above. I ended up simply copying all 7 files to a 2GB card and following the instructions. Installation proceeded as expected. My only complaint is that none of the included vodeo players seems to have native support for networked sources, but both VLC and Kodi 17.6 seem to work fine with my NAS. (I initially tried Kodi 18.1 but it would not connect to my NAS, returning the error "invalid argument". Uninstalled and installed 17.6, which worked. Haven't tried Kodi 18.0 yet. It may have simply been a bad installation, as 18.1 works fine with my phone and tablet.)

The included players are old and outdated.

So its best to use Kodi, VLC or even Plex for your NAS.

When installing Kodi 18.1, make sure to use the 64 Bit ARM version, as this is 64 Bit Android.

It is an unfortunate to know that they no longer support this model while others are still waiting for a stable OTA update Android OS 5.1 on myGica 1800e.

    Dung.

Android 5.1 was never fully stable or official for this model + the 585/582/380
As the Android SDK given to us from Amlogic for these models was basically a Beta to begin with, and was released 3 years ago and never updated/fixed afterwards.

As I have mentioned before, we rely on our chipset supplier to provide us with Android OS Updates.

That is why we released this purely as a Beta

is there a fix for wifi not working after upgrading to firmware 5.1

    This only affects some users
And the firmware released was only beta and will always be Beta

We have no plans to release any new updates as support for that model has stopped

@Justin I want to give it a last try to recover my ATV1800E box.

I have downloaded the Amlogic usb burning tool and I can connect and see the box by using an old cable but whenever I try to load an image file into the burning tool I get a "parse Burning image fail"

Is there a different .img file that I need to load in the burning tool? I have tried all the SD img files and I always get the same error.

    Thanks.

I found out we do not support the USB Burning tool from Amlogic

I will see if another method is available

    Hi,

I have huge problems upgrading with this file <Mygica_1900AC/1800/5892/380_Android_5-1_20170612 1.0.0>.For starters, it takes a heck of a long time to boot up. It gets stuck at Mygica - Seeing is Believing screen for a longtime (can be as long as 10 minutes) before booting up. Once in, it does have a fresh 'feeling' to it. Kudos to the guys who made this upgrade.

However, unit hangups are common. I used SSH and it hangs during transmission of files. Literally, one has to physically reboot the 1800E unit, twice at least and wait between 5 to 10 minutes before it is fully operational. Inside Kodi, it hangs when trying to install simple things like metadata information addons.  This literally prevent it to from being a reliable unit.

But I like the feel of android 5.1 and I would like to use it for my daily needs. I am not sure if this is a problem with the Upgrade process. Would it be possible for you to package the upgrade as a recovery format, meaning we have to boot into recovery in order to update as against the present method of upgrading from inside the android os. The format I speak of is the same as the ATV1800E-Factory-Files.zip file.

Alternatively, I have downloaded two files from your site and would like to try them out.

    update_MyGica_ATV1900AC_5.1_noNetflixHD_20160706.img & update_Mygica_ATV1900AC_5.1_NoNetflixHD_20161121.img

Which file would be suitable for the 1800E unit?

You can upgrade in Recovery mode using the same files as you would in the Android OS
This is actually one of the only ways that I upgrade all of my units, unless a bootcard is needed.

Step 5. Hook it up to your ATV1800E ? Is this article not for the ATV586 ATSC Box?  I am looking for a copy of the DTV Player to download, thought this restore might work but am quite scared to try it now.

This is just the Firmware upgrade

    I appreciate the comments
