Best device for XBMC and component video output?

Recommended Posts

hi Daws0n,

Yes the ATV1200 with the old 4.1 firmware is what you need but you need to find someone who has a old model which still has these port on them and running the 4.1 firmware. All current ATV1200's are running 4.2 firmware and have had the ports removed physically . So you might you can see from the pictures http://www.mygica.ca/tv_boxes.php?name=mygica-atv-1200 that the component port have been removed and there is only the composite port is there.

The reason they were removed is that Google removed the component function in firmware 4.2 for Android. Therefore the ports were removed from new boxes.

If you do find a someone selling a ATV1200 with component ports but running 4.2. You would then need to downgrade the firmware.

There are many more advantages in getting a ATV1800e and a TV with HDMI. Faster boxes and better picture quality.

Sorry i cant be much more help than that.
