WiFi hotspot?

Is the ATV586 supposed to function as a WiFi hotspot?

I thought I saw that in the online descriptions of it.

In the settings menu there are menu picks for "portable hotspot"

I have tried turning on this feature, and setting a password.

My phone seems to connect to the MyGica box, and the MyGica box is connected to the internet, but my phone won't connect to the internet through it.

Does it have anything to do with the "hotspot channel" setting?

Any other suggestions?

Your box needs to be connected to Ethernet to create a Wifi Hot Spot.

Do you have the 586 setup on Ethernet?

Is there a way to turn off the hotspot on my Mygica box?

I have wifi at home, and when I run the wifi analyzer it shows both my home wifi and the hotspot coming up..and I fear this is causing a disturbance in my signal strength, which has been weak lately.

This is my opinion only but I'm thinking that the hotspot can be nothing but a benefit. I have a wireless extender off my router that gives me much more range in my house. You're basically dipping into the same Internet "pot" so I can't see it being an issue.

Inside Other settings you can turn Hot Spot off.

If you click on the settings icon, go to the last ICON on the right

You will see option for OTHER SETTINGS.

From there you can turn off Wifi Hotpot.
