Please tell me for how long we are going to stay on kit kat 4.4. An update is long overdue. Found a cheap box with 5.2 android and its much better. Did I waste my money on this expensive device?

The 582 is almost 3 years old.

Android 4.4 is the only available OS for this model
We rely on OS updates from our chipset supplier, and they have not offered anything above 4.4 and are not able to either.

 

If you found another box with 5.2, then it is much newer then the 582 that is why it is running 5.2

Is there any update yet on possible updates for this device? I would love to be able to run Kodi Krypton but currently its not supported

Not yet.
