Android Status Bar -Hide?

Does anyone know how to hide this status bar or make it disappear during playback? Just started using popcorn time and everything works flawlessly except for the blue status bar across the top of the screen.

The only way to hide it is if we delete it from the Android OS in our Firmware.

Right now this is not something we want to do.

I'd even settle for a way to have it disappear during full screen playback. Does this mean I'm stuck with a half inch blue band across the top of my screen every time I watch something?

There are only 2 options

Leave it the way it is or delete it completely 

If we delete it completely then there is no status bar anywhere within Android.
This is not something we want to do.
