ATV 1200 stopped working

Recommended Posts

My ATV1200 stopped working over 2 months ago.

It won't boot, only shows a red light, will not come into recovery mode and I can not flash anything from SD card.

I live in Germany and purchased the unit from MyHDplayer.de with a 2 year warranty on August 08.2013.

Dealer refuses to help and told me to contact the manufacturer.

So I contacted support in China and they sent me some files to flash the unit with, but that didn't help at all.

factory_update_param.aml

factory_update_param.ubt

spi_MX.bin

uImage_recovery

update_MYGICA_ATV520E_20130920.zip

Now the support is totally ignoring my Emails.

Please help.

Maybe this will help. First, try to create boot card and than install firmware from sd card as always (with recovery button holded). If this dont work than... the key is to bridge 2 pins to get into recovery. Of course, you need to open your box (I dont know anything about warranty).

1) I downloaded this file (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kr3wta) and created a boot card (steps 1-4 from instruction). In Windows 8.1 i opened SDcardMaker.exe as administrator otherwise i cant see my sd card

2) Downloaded the files from below link and done everything from readme (http://www.sendspace.com/file/qdkl2y). Of course, you need to use your box files (factory_update_param.aml, factory_update_param.ubt, spi_MX.bin, uImage_recovery, update_MYGICA_ATV520E_20130920.zip )

If you can boot into recovery now (with just bootcard) than ok. If you cant boot into recovery than read instruction in point 3

3) I opened box and used something similar to this (http://www.thepaintstore.com/v/vspfiles ... 4RG-2T.jpg) to bridge those 2 pins (http://i.imgur.com/3WEhxnZ.jpg?1). Holded reset button, and plugged in power adapter. When box booted into recovery and started to flash firmware from sd card (the bootcard i created before) i released all (except power line).

If you use correct bootcard and bridge those 2 pins, box MUST enter recovery. Check step by step instruction to see that you done everything correctly.

1) Download this file (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kr3wta) and unzip.

2) Format your SD/TF card (delete all partitions on it, you can use "easeus partition master" or similar soft) then run the “SDcardMaker.exe”. In Windows 7 and 8 open SDcardMaker as administrator

2) In SDcardMaker Open the drop-down box of the “Select a disk” to choose the corresponding disk of the SD/TF card, enable the “Whether format and repartition disk or not?” option, and then choose an uboot bin file to make the boot card (instruction from http://www.sendspace.com/file/kr3wta, read SDcardMaker english translation)

3) In SDcardMaker click on the “Make boot card” button to start to make the boot card, then click “Confirm” button to call the formatting window. Click the “Start” button to format the SD/TF card. After that, click “Close” button to close the formatting window, then click “Confirm” button to complete making. (instruction from http://www.sendspace.com/file/kr3wta, read SDcardMaker english translation)

4) Download this firmware (www.geniatech.com/down-eng/androidtvbox ... 05_eng.zip), don't unzip, just copy this file to sd card.

5) Download this zip file (http://www.sendspace.com/file/qdkl2y), unzip and copy all files to sd card

6) Run uboot_MX.cmd file from sd card, it will pop up a window to remind you to continue, just press any button until it automatically exit

7) Insert sd card into the box, bridge those 2 pins (http://i.imgur.com/3WEhxnZ.jpg?1) with something similar to this (http://www.thepaintstore.com/v/vspfiles ... 4RG-2T.jpg), hold reset button, and plug in power adapter. When box boots into recovery and starts to flash firmware from sd card release all (except power line)

Tried many times with different sd cards, box never entered recovery.

MyGica technical support totally ignored me and never answered my emails.

What a waist!

Who did you email?

support@mygica.com ??

As I only handle emails for support@mygica.ca and do not recall an email from you.

If you can, resend an email and CC support@mygica.ca I will make sure they respond to you

I'm in Germany, support@mygica.ca informed me, that they only handle warranty units purchased in North America and told me to contact my dealer for warranty (the one, who told me to contact MyGica).

Then I contacted support@mygica.com for help, they sent me a file to flash, but no luck

Now the support is ignoring my email requests for help.

Who is responsible for broken units bought in Europe?

Sorry I must not have seen this post before.

I looked through my support emails and do not see that I was CC on the email. Can you send support@mygica.com another email, with support@mygica.ca CC on it.

Since your dealer is refusing to help you, the only option is to send it to China to get it replaced.

I am not sure why they would be refusing to exchange it for you, since you got a 2 year warranty with your purchase. Bricked units are one of the most common things.

We just tried the bootcard method here on a few 1200s and they worked.

The method to setup the Bootcard SD though is a little difficult.

Have they given you the bootcard instructions for your 1200?

@Justin.

Are these boot card instructions any different than what Arkadia said he already tried back in post 3? He says he knows how to do it...

Now support@mygica.com wants me to update by bootcard (again).

http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o62vIiu

I wanted to try a last time, but again I'm unable to download the files from baidu.com.

Insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result.

That pretty well describes my experience with MyGica so far.

I was able to download it.

I have uploaded it to my post.

Upgrade for mygica 4.2 0922 KR34 by boot card.rar

Me too. Took me 7 minutes and 27 seconds. (Well I was also downloading season Six of Dexter at the same time so that might have been why it took so long)...

Thanks for uplaoding, only took me a second this time.

I followed the instructions, created a boot card with Partition Guru and tried to flash again, but all I get is a red status light and the box remains dead.

What next?

Did you follow the steps accordingly for the boot card?

As one of our guys here created boot cards last week and told me it took him about 30-40 minutes per card to make.

If you did, then next steps would be to email support@mygica.com again to ask them. I am trying to help here as best I can.
