Linux on MyGica

The ATV1900Pro contains a AMLogic S905 processor.
I see the ODroid C2 has the same processor - https://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G145457216438

Has anyone attempted to get full blown linux up and running on it rather than Android (yes - I'm aware this would probably void the warranty)?

I searched a bit and found the following basic example https://mxqproject.com/tutorial-s905s905xs912-linux-ubuntu-mate-install-tutorial/ but just wondering if anyone has actually tried this on the MyGica hardware.
