Hey Guys,

First time user of a MyGica product. I've been having problems with it so the forums directed me here.

At first glance your instructions seem clear. But with electronics its the small details that let you successfully update the unit or not.

The instructions say

1. Download the zip file and put the file "update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120" onto a usb thumb drive or sd card.

When I click the download button I get this fle

1900_pro_5.1_jan_20_new_boot.rar

Do i rename a RAR to a zip?

I'm going to try a few things but would feel better if I knew I was on the right path

You need Win RAR to open these files.

If you are still not sure, you can wait till end of the week, we will be sending this update straight to the box via OTA.

Hey Justin,

I have unrarx for my mac.
My unit is so unstable I cannot get it to boot to the main menu with out it freezing.
I've done a factory reset as well.

My point is that the instructions above are wrong and misleading, users will become frustrated.

Hi Justin,

Seems your the main moderator of this site.
Please don't take this the wrong way,  just frustrated.

Here is a copy paste from the above help doc

To upgrade your Android version;

1. Download the zip file and put the file "update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120" onto a usb thumb drive or sd card.
2. Insert the USB or SD card into the unit and navigate to the settings area.
3. Click on "Software Updates" then "Local Update". If the file does not appear, click the "context" button 10 times. (the button with 3 lines)

After clicking this file, it will finish in less than 10 minutes, usually.

When I click the download button I receive a file named

1900_pro_5.1_jan_20_new_boot.rar

In a past comment you mentioned unrar the file. I'm familiar with the application so I did and placed the loose files on a usb and tried the Local Update.
That didn't work
In placed the loose files in a zip and I named it update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120.zip
The unit saw the file but gave an error because the zip wasn't signed properly.

I cannot get the unit to boot or stay at the main screen long enough for an update from the net.
The unit either reboots or displays the white screen with a red block "the system had an error an should reboot"
not the exact words but you know the screen I'm talking about.

My only thought now is to download the original previous firmware. boot up in recovery mode and reinstall the same firmware.
perhaps something became corrupt with all the reboots / unplugging and plugging.

You are supposed to just extract the 7 files and place them onto the root of an SD card if you want to use it as a boot card file

Or you can just extract the update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120 .IMG file onto the root of an SD card or USB to install it from the UPGRADE app. This is mentioned in step #1

If the files do not appear within Local Update. Then you can try pressing the 3 lined menu button on the remote 10+ times

Hi when I follow the steps to update my 1900PRO with the lastest s/w via the method of holding reset button, plugging in the power, and waiting for the Android guy to show up after 15 seconds I don't see that.

What I get is a menu to select items.

To upgrade the box what item do I select? See the picture I took of my TV when I did this. It is waiting for an adb sideload command.

Unzip the update file and put the 7 files on a blank sd card. Put the card in the box and get to that reset screen again and select "apply update from EXT" then select external storage or sd card then select the file that has a .img on the end of it. The box will run the update and when its done it will be back to the main menu again then just select "reboot system now" and you're done.

Hey Justin

I just got the 1900PRO and it came loaded with firmware date back in Oct 2016 with Kodi16.1. I tried playing some of my .mp4 movies off my usb hard drive through Kodi and the audio cuts out for a split second every 15 seconds. Very annoying. All the settings are the same as I had them on my 1800E running Android 5.1 and Kodi16.1 and the HDMI set to passthrough and my 1800E played those same files smooth as glass. So I tried running this Jan 30 FW which has the Mar 24 update and it comes with Kodi17.1 on it and when I try to play the same .mp4 movies there's no audio at all. The audio issue with Kodi16.1 on this box, could it be because 16.1 is a 32bit program and the box is 64bit? Cause otherwise it would have to be a Firmware issue because 16.1 works fine on my 1800E with Lollipop 5.1. The issue with Kodi 17.1 I don't know what to think cause the HDMI passthrough doesn't work on my 1800E or the 1900PRO.

I followed both types of upgrade and keep getting the same screen as Silvervan1986. When I select EXT , sdcard, the next screen where I am supposed to choose the upgrade file has no file listed. only the option ../ to go back.

From the Upgrade app I select Local and then the .img file and yes to reboot. I see the android for 2-3 seconds then it drops to the same screen as above with error:

Opening update package
--Secure Check...:
Secure check failed.
Installation aborted.
OTA Failed! Please power off the device to keep it in this state and file a bug report!
Formatting /cache...

Please advise what to do next? I'm hoping this update will stop Netflix from video freezing. This is the only device having the problem in my home.

Hey Justin

Well I was able to get the passthrough in Kodi 17.1 working so you can disregard my last message. Kind of curious why if this box is a 64 bit box why it only recognizes the 32 bit install file for Kodi and not the 64 bit install file for Kodi. Just something I noticed while trying to work out my passthough issue because I tried manually installing Kodi a bunch of times. Something else I noticed about this box is if you have a hdd installed in the box while having hdd's plugged into the usb ports, the unit will reboot a bunch of times on it's own sometimes because it has a hard time figuring out what port each hdd is supposed to be assigned too. Doesn't reboot on it's own anymore since I removed the internal hdd.

Chris.

I had the same problem so all I did was go back to the recovery screen and took the SD card out and recopied the files to it. When I put the SD card back in the files showed up.

Justin,

Sorry It's been awhile. Turns out the wifi module on the unit stopped working. I only use WIFI so I never had a completely successful install or factory reset.
I brought the unit into the computer store I purchased it from. Their tech's worked on it in front of me and they are familiar with the unit.

Each install had the same effect. After selected a wifi network, which works perfectly, hitting ok bring up a black screen. doesn't leave this screen.

Many reboots later they exchanged the unit and I haven't had any problems.

I don't think my issue was caused out of the box, I believe their were a few brown outs in my band new condo that played havok on the system.

So I'm back completely happy with my unit. I actually bought another for my bed room.

thanks for all your help

Dave

I am trying to do this. I have gone to setting, software updates and pushed the context button 10 times but no option is coming up to download any files. Just the back button. Am I doing something wrong?

Copy the update instead using micro SD or USB. Put the files in the root and do the reset/factory restore procedure.

I think you may also do the upgrade via micro SD or USB on the update app of Mygica by local updates.

I just received my 1900Pro and am having a few problems, so I came to the downloads page to see if I had the latest software.

I checked the About page and see the model is designated as 495Pro, Version 5.1.1, Build V001M901_20161013

The exterior label says 1900Pro, why does it say 495Pro in the settings?

Both models use the same Firmware.

Once you take the latest V1.30 Firmware update, you will see we changed the name of it to MyGica S905

Hey Justin

Just wondering when the next firmware is going to be released. Tired of having to restart my box to get sound back every time I want to use another app after watching a video with AC3 on kodi.

We were finally able to reproduce this issue, and are working to fix it.

I do not have a date yet for a Firmware update, but will keep you posted.
