495 PRO Android 7.1 upgrade 7.1 BETA (final version)

About This File

ATV 495 PRO upgrade to Android version 7.1

This is a beta version as we had to build this ourselves without the normal support through regular channels. This will not move passed BETA, so you may encounter minor issues with certain programs, but we currently have no known issues at the moment.

Difficulty level - 3/5

This will not work on the 495. It is meant for the 495 PRO. This is indicated on the sticker on the bottom of your 495 Pro unit. If it doesn't say "PRO" then its a different device.

Notable features:

-Updates from Android 5.1 to 7.1 for better support.
- New Home Screen
- Added Dual Boot Option to Libreelec
- Added Super User Support

****DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE TO 7.1 THROUGH THE OPERATING SYSTEM. IT WILL POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE***

This update must be done using the below method only.

NOTE: Processing this Firmware upgrade will wipe all your Data

How to process the steps:

1. Download the zip file
2. Format your MicroSD Card to FAT32
3. Unzip the files into a folder on your computer before moving to step 4.
4. Drag and drop files from Unzip folder to root of your MicroSD card.  (unzip files to the main part of the card, not in a folder)
5. Insert sd card with files into the 495 PRO SD card slot
6. Connect HDMI, turn the TV on
7. Hold the Power button.
8. Hookup power while holding down power button.
9. Hold for 15 seconds

10. The front side lights should blink red to green repeatedly if the upgrade process has started properly.

you will see the android guy moving, give it 5 -10 minutes and it should bring you to the 7.1 setup screen.

Hi Everyone. The update is it purely for the atv495pro?  I have the ATV495X . I also believe that under this model there is two versions the stvm9 and stvs9.

Mine is the stvs9 can i install the update or would this brick my device?

HI all. As Jay said, in the download section for this one it says that THIS IS NOT FOR ATV495, well, I got an ATV495 that since three years (when I bought it) never work decently, is TOO SLOW, so I'm not using it, but anyway I need to feel that I've not waste my money... So, is there any new update for ATV495?

Keep waiting but at this time, already out of patience nor hope....

Hi Guys. Please help. I download the upgrade file and that bricked my device. Managed to sort that issue out via USB tool. Tried to upgrade again but each time the installation fails. Please help. If I download the upgrade file and unzip it what I see in the unzipped folder is a few files and a zip file and a folder called META-INF. Please can you provide the exact file names that should be copied onto the SD card. I've tried every option but its not working.

I don't have a 495 Pro, have upgraded 1800 and 1900s.  Basically what ever is in the zip file from the download you just put those files into the main part of the SD card.  If there are other zipped files there don't do anything with them, just move them over as well but don't unzip those.  Just copy all the files from the unzipped download to the card.  Do the reboot procedure which forces the device to read the sd card and should boot you into an upgrade process, steps 7,8 and 9.  Really not much else you should need to do.

Good luck, start over and do all the steps listed to do the upgrade.  Maybe try another SD card and make sure its formatted Fat32 before you move the files over from the unzipped download.  Also make sure the download firmware is made for you exact model or else that can brick it .

The update went relatively smoothly... :-)

First I just added the upgrade to the microSD card, but that did not work. I noticed it was not FAT32 format.

Removed it completely and used a WIN7 machine to format FAT32....transferred the upgrade files to the root. Inserted it back into my ATV 495pro, held down the power button while plugging it in, and 15 min later had a nice  Android 7.1 machine.

Thanks!

Inside of the zipped file there is another zip file. Do wee need to unzip that zip file as well inside of the SD Card?

Good evening all

I tried to perform this upgrade and ended up with a atv495 pro that is stuck with a orange light that prevents it from turning on,  my tv box is not responding to any reset process and stays orange and doesn't turn on.  I would appreciate any help please guys.

Same thing happened to me. Did you manage to get your device working again?

Can we also get an AML version of the firmware for the ATV 495PRO HDR and the 495X HDR as well ?

I have several 495PRO HDR  boxes that are bricked using the micro SD card version of the firmware.  This was like playing Russian Roulette flashed 10x ATV 495PRO HDR boxes, 8x were successful and 2x bricked !  Is this the kind of odd retailers and distributors of MyGica products have to put up with ?

If you have the plain ATV 495PRO then you can use the  AML version of the firmware to flash it back to Android 5.1 using the Amlogic USB Burning Tool on a Windows PC.

Just download the zip file and both the Amlogic USB Burning Tool and AML firmware for the ATV 495PRO is in there.
