There is an ATV 9.0 Pie firmware for the MyGica ATV 495MAX. Geniatech, MyGica's mother company still sells this same identical box so download the firmware before their link is gone ! https://shop.geniatech.us/download/software-for-geniatech-android-box/

I bought an ematic Netflix box. It's got android tv9. Google certified and also Netflix certified. Surprisingly has the same specs as my 495max, yet running Android 9 and certified for all the stuff a person needs. Stopped wasting my time with this brand though. They were once very good--and had regular updates and actually cared about aftersales. I have had 3 of there boxes in the past. The 495 max is sure to be my last. No support, no updates, no development.

For me I had to make 2 adjustments in Display settings for the HDMI to work properly. 1) I manually set the resolution 2) If I recall I had to set the setting "Color Depth Setting" to off. I guess these settings all depend on your TV and you may have to play with them. Mine is an old Samsung non-smart TV.

Try this fix (copied below) from MyGica for another issue (same product T230C):- I did it and now the tuner is working from hibernate. Only if you are running Windows 10 64-bit SOLVED I can't edit the main post so if you are reading this, until there's a full official solution with a proper installer, here is how to manually install the working driver. download this: http://mygicasupport.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=4105 Extract the files somewhere (you need to know where they are) Right click "Computer" > Manage > Device Manager > Find your device under "sound video and game controllers" > Right click > Update Driver > Manually search in your computer > Locate the folder > Install Driver > Restart your Computer & research your local DVB-T2 frequency. That's it! it worked for us, hope it works for you. @zxl if possible please either Edit this into the top of the thread or sticky this or something so people could see it when they first go into this thread.

I agree with what you're saying for the most part except the last sentence. The two 1800e boxes I bought over the past couple months had 5.1 already installed on them. And I think the older models deserve the full right to completely function on 5.1. I personally prefer 1800e over 1900ac because it has the full size sd card slot, specs are minimally different, and it's cheaper. The biggest thing I can't get is how long these things take to fix. And whenever there's a new firmware release that's better than the last it's like a huge breakthrough for mygica. Maybe I don't know enough about the technology, but I think it should really just take weeks to correct issues like this at the most, not months and months. But I agree these boxes should be fully functional to standard upon their purchase. I don't mean to be overly negative about mygica, but I do feel you guys can do things a lot better. Lots of room for improvement. Constructive criticism.

The update is as follows. At first we thought it was wide spread on 1900AC and 1800E, but now after spending a lot of time on this, it is mainly only the 1800E. The issue we are having is the 1800E uses a different chipset then the 1900AC and also a different PCBA Layout, including the power layout. This is basically what is causing the issue, we had something similar on the 1900 PRO and 495 PRO, but were able to fix it. However, the 1800E chipset is very similar to the one in the 1900AC that is why 5.1 works, but just has a standby issue. We are trying to figure out how to fix the power issue without affecting the 1900AC at the same time. I realize this is obviously a problem, as electronics should turn on/off without issue, and I am not ignoring it at all and I have never been silent on the issue either. So that is the current update for now. P.S. - I know this is not normally what people do with electronics, but you can just leave the box on 24/7, and do the occasional reboot. Personally I haven't turned off my box in about 6 months, I just do reboots from time to time. This will temporarily solve the standby issue for now.

Considering that upgrading to Kodi Krypton 17.1 is soon to be a necessity (1), I'd say the Mygica team (AMLogic at large) has a responsibility to its customers to produce a stable 5.0 (or higher) image for it's products. 1) https://www.tvaddons.ag/upgrade-kodi-krypton/

We fixed this issue on 1900 PRO and 495 PRO After speaking to my team over the weekend, we cannot fix it on the 1800E/1900AC till after Chinese New Years, since their office closes after tomorrow for 2 weeks. I think once the fix is ready, we will send it OTA. If not, then I will get a how to video explaining how to do it.

Once rooted I install NSTools its a free app that lets you change the CPU Scaling Governor. I set mine to interactive its like performance and keeps all cores active but allows the cores to idle lower when not active to reduce heat. When the CPU power is needed they all ramp up. Since i rooted and set to interactive with a min of 600 mhz on interactive the unit is WAY faster. Hot plug stops cores as much as possible to save power and idles them as low as possible this is not a good setting for a always plugged in and always on android box as the unit uses a power brick and will draw the same power if its on or off. here is the link for what i use. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.cyann.nstools&hl=en here is the description of the governors I spoke of : (There are over 100 Governors ) 8: Interactive: Interactive scales the clockspeed over the course of a timer set by the kernel developer (or user). In other words, if an application demands a ramp to maximum clockspeed (by placing 100% load on the CPU), a user can execute another task before the governor starts reducing CPU frequency. Because of this timer, Interactive is also better prepared to utilize intermediate clockspeeds that fall between the minimum and maximum CPU frequencies. It is significantly more responsive than OnDemand, because it's faster at scaling to maximum frequency. Interactive also makes the assumption that a user turning the screen on will shortly be followed by the user interacting with some application on their device. Because of this, screen on triggers a ramp to maximum clockspeed, followed by the timer behavior described above. Interactive is the default governor of choice for today's smartphone and tablet manufacturers. 3: Performance: The performance governor locks the phone's CPU at maximum frequency. 21: Hotplug: The Hotplug governor performs very similarly to the OnDemand governor, with the added benefit of being more precise about how it steps down through the kernel's frequency table as the governor measures the user's CPU load. However, the Hotplug governor's defining feature is its ability to turn unused CPU cores off during periods of low CPU utilization. This is known as "hotplugging."

ATV495MAX Firmware The only firmware currently available for the ATV495MAX is the beta patch for Netflix coming in at about 60 MB. A full set of firmware should weigh in at close to 512MB. Could you please post actual firmware for the ATV495MAX (any version would do). You seem to have it for other devices, but not for the ATV495MAX.

Programming the k303 Hi there, I have recently purchased 5 of these remotes for various android tv boxes and I really like the remote however it would be amazing to have the proper instructions on how to program the 4 learning buttons and the power button. I have scoured the internet and have found nothing, not even instructions on your own website which I find completely baffling. Why sell a product advertising it’s ability to learn it codes and then not tell anyone how to do it properly. It makes no sense! Even the last post asking this exact question remains unanswered since 2018? Why is this such a big secret. My Gica support staff please respond with valid instructions!

hi Also from Mzanzi. Don't waste your time updating to android 7. I did that and the device froze a couple of times. It was unstable. I ended up going back to version 6. Then, I updated the firmware to android 6.0.1. It does run Showmax and Netflix without problems.
  22. 1 point
And now upgraded to 7.1 😀 Props to the Support guys involved in working to resolve this. Started off bumpy and you folks came through. QV, give it a bash. I hope it works (follow bineredondat's instructions in the comments).

Right, downloaded the 7.1 files again, reformatted the SD Card to FAT32, copied files to root and followed the update procedure as outlined to the letter. Status bar with oscillating multi-coloured rings appeared, ran through installation phase to Erase and screen went black. Unplugged HDMI and re-inserted without disconnecting power at any point and VOILA! We have 7.1 installed Thank you ever so kindly. Always a pleasure to eat humble pie when my views are changed by solid support.

After 2 attempts, successfully unbricked the unit. Thanks to the Tech Support guys on here. It is appreciated.
  25. 1 point
It worked! My bricked 495PRO is back to Lollipop. Kudos to MyGica support. Also, thanks for including USB Burning Tool (UBT) in the download package. There's lots of versions floating around so it's great that you provided a functional copy (v2.0.6.2) along with the img file. Your instructions show a different version but I can confirm that v2.0.6.2 worked fine. As noted, no NAND pin shorting was required (whew!) so there's no need to open the box, however, I had to use the USB port other than the one indicated in the instructions. That is, I had to plug my cable into the "front" USB port closest to the SD card slot. Also, in my case, I didn't have to hold down the power button. The 495PRO was immediately recognized by UBT when the USB was plugged in. The other USB port (towards the back) did not work with UBT regardless if the power button was held (or not) when the power was applied. Perhaps there have been minor hardware tweaks during the 495PRO's life cycle? Anyway, thanks again MyGica! I appreciate the responsive customer support. QV

Good morning, there exists some firmware that allows to input video format PAL in the CVBS in? My HD Cap accepts any format entering trough HDMI or YPbPr, but if revenue PAL format trough CVBS, records it in black and white (with NTSC works fine). And my equipments have exits only PAL (I am in Argentina). Thanks for any reply

If it's just explained clear any person with an elementary school education will be able to understand but it's up to you guys to make it clear. I'm still confused. You said that the factory reset is only necessary if you're upgrading from 4.4. SO WHY ARE YOU MAKING PEOPLE HAVE TO FACTORY RESET IF THEY'RE ALREADY ON 5.1? Why not create a separate firmware file for people upgrading their existing 5.1 firmware so they don't have to factory reset their box? Factory resetting is very excruciating. Me being a customer telling you this, it should be very valued. I'm not saying this to blow hot air. Maybe the developers don't think it's important or just don't care because they just need the firmware to update boxes before they're put on the market. This goes back to trying to make things as easy for your customers as you can, not as easy for your developers as you can. I very highly recommend creating at least the one additional firmware file for people upgrading who are already on 5.1. The six files would be even better. Personally I can't understand how these files can be that hard to maintain. They'll all just have minor differences which will be factory reset vs no factory reset, and root vs unroot. Everything else in the firmware file will be the exact same. I get the impression your development team is very lazy, incredibly under staffed, or not knowledgeable enough in the software. There's definitely something off given how long some of these fixes take to get together, especially considering they were fine on android 4.4. My six file recommendation was vague. I left it to you guys to fill in the blanks. If you use appropriate headings and descriptions for each file in an organized graph(s) type layout, it will be incredibly easy to understand what firmware does what. Doing this will put much less stress on customers who don't want their box to factory reset after upgrading and for customers who want their software rooted. Yes, your customers, the people who keep you guys in business.
  32. 1 point
So the firmware upgrade from 5.1 to newer 5.1 firmware will be a patch which won't factory reset the box, correct? And does it matter that the upgrade file is a patch, will it still operate exactly the same as if it were factory reset? You guys should do six files and explain what each file is. I think that would be best and easiest for people. And if you guys label your firmware with a specific number in addition to the date which they can see in their system, it will be easier for them to keep track of what firmware file they're on (ex. android 5.1.2). Unless if this is possible somehow, but I don't see it anywhere. 1) unrooted 5.1 firmware (for upgrading from 4.4) FACTORY RESET (recommended) 2) rooted 5.1 firmware (for upgrading from 4.4) FACTORY RESET 3) unrooted 5.1 firmware (upgrade for existing 5.1 users) this will not factory reset the box (recommended) 4) rooted 5.1 firmware (upgrade for existing 5.1 users) this will not factory reset the box 5) unroot patch (users on 5.1 rooted can use this patch to switch their box to unrooted if they want) 6) root patch (users on 5.1 unrooted can use this patch to switch their box to rooted if they want)

I believe so.. I used one and I am currently doing the update as I type, but I believe it needs to be formatted a certain way. I cant recal what it needs to be, fat32 maybe? would have to do aome back tracking to verify
  34. 1 point
Exactly this. I think it's caused by the hotplug and them reducing the 4 cores down to 2. This is not present when all cores are working. If they were to change the profile from hotplug to ondemand or some other similar profile I think it would work
  35. 1 point
Justin, I think you guys are talking about the same graphics issue I mentioned in my earlier post, but not entirely sure. I'm finding it's present whenever there's fast motion on the screen. If you watch the mygica opening animation on 4.4 for 1800e vs. 5.1 for 1800e, you'll very noticeably see the difference. Whenever there's fast motion it plays kind of jerky. Did you end up looking into this?
  36. 1 point
Yeah this is a great solution and didn't occur to me. I didn't realize how little power the box uses. At 10 watts, it uses about $10 for the year if left on the whole year, which is pretty minor. I think I'll probably keep it on 24/7 even after the standby issue is fixed. I use the rii i8+ remote that can't power the box on/off, so have to use the mygica kr-40 remote to power it on/off. But leaving the box on 24/7 eliminates the need to use the kr-40 remote at all, making the box more user friendly. So I'm really satisfied with this fix because it solves two problems for me, standby issue, and eliminates secondary remote.

Download the file and make sure all full files are unzipped and transferred to SD card. (( Make sure file is fully downloaded )) 3. Manual update required, via pin and power adapter. let me know how things are.

Do the following at your own risks... According to MyGica rooting the device may affect compatibility with some apps; Download 5.1 root patch http://mygicasupport.com/index.php?/topic/2905-1900ac1800e-51-firmware-november-23-2016/&do=findComment&comment=19457 Copy img file to the root directory of your device or USB key; Launch the Upgrade app and select Local Update (select update_Mygica_ATV1900AC_5.1_root_patch.img) and pray... Worked for me 1st time and didn't factory reset the device; Once rooted - open Google Play and look for Navigation Bar... The one that says (back-menu root) from "Just Relax". I have it on all my Android boxes who got the navigation bar removed. Love it. Enjoy

Well thank you for the timely response. Your thought about the the value in casting is exactly what I'm hoping to do. I have my 1900 and 582 in different rooms but when I want to go to the rec room to watch something I have to unplug one of the boxes and take it with me. I don't have any experience with any other box but I do use the screen cast option with my Samsung S5 to stream online content to the Chromecast - it works great - it mirrors perfectly! This would be an awesome feature if it were ever made possible. I just don't know if this is a hardware or software restriction. The 1900 sees the Chromecast device but when I try to cast the screen to it, the box freezes and I have to unplug it to reboot. if you ever want anyone to do any testing with this feature, I'm happy to help. Again, thanks for the recent improvements in firmware and support.

I installed it to try it out on my 585. I do not like it. I can't adjust the screen size and everything is way out beyond the margins. Not happy. And I don't know how to revert to Android from within the Kodi program. File manager doesn't work. It won't properly unpack the image file I downloaded from the link given here by the other user. So, I need some help.

Will try and get #1,2 and 3 fixed. As for #4. I have given this to a lot of people without any complaints really. So is there something besides what you pointed out in 1-3 that is not satisfactory? 5. Can use the Factory Boot Card files from here to go back to Android. I have been uploading all my zip files of factory restore cards onto my onedrive. I keep them updated for the most part and I will keep putting them up until they are all there. http://1drv.ms/1JKmuNb If you have any problem downloading them, or you need different files, let me know. quad core video; the 585, 582, the reset button is on the bottom.

The android tv remote and chromecast receiver apps are for the new Android 5.0 TV Platform. Right now those apps can only be used on Google ADT-1 Development boxes, which only developers and anyone who attended googles I/O conference last week have access to.
