  1. Just as feedback to your request I can report that I have not had this issue on my 1900.
  2. Well thank you for the timely response. Your thought about the the value in casting is exactly what I'm hoping to do. I have my 1900 and 582 in different rooms but when I want to go to the rec room to watch something I have to unplug one of the boxes and take it with me. I don't have any experience with any other box but I do use the screen cast option with my Samsung S5 to stream online content to the Chromecast - it works great - it mirrors perfectly! This would be an awesome feature if it were ever made possible. I just don't know if this is a hardware or software restriction. The 1900 sees the Chromecast device but when I try to cast the screen to it, the box freezes and I have to unplug it to reboot. if you ever want anyone to do any testing with this feature, I'm happy to help. Again, thanks for the recent improvements in firmware and support.
  3. So far the box seems to be more stable with this version. I haven't had any crashes/system freezing this week, I have had no problems with Play Store or any other apps that I regularly use. The one thing that I was hoping would be availability is Screen Casting from the 1900 to a Chromecast device. I know this isn't an advertised feature of this unit but since this has been a native feature with Android devices since 4.4 I just can't rationalize why it doesn't work with this box. I realize there are other more important things the techs need to work on but if someone from Support could comment on the reason for the unavailability of this function it would be appreciated. Thanks again for this release, it seems to the best we've had over the past year. Let's hope this means good things ahead for the 1900 and MyGica!
  4. Just google MyGica MagTV 8.9.6 once you have that installed, dont let it do an auto update but instead create your Portal with the desired settings. Then, after restarting let it upgrade 8.9.8. The reason to advise not to update first is that I have experienced the new MagTV release being quirky and not saving changes made to the Portal. This way, the portal is setup on the earlier version so you should be good to go. If you need more help you should probably start a new thread as this is reserved for feedback on the new FW.
  5. Yes it is frosty, if you downloaded the img file to your sdcard then the app should see it. Also take note of the posts above from Darrylg apparently you should unplug the ethernet, if you have one plugged in. I did. Why this should matter and cause the system to reset the entire system, I don't know but hopefully the mods take note and make the necessary adjustment.
  6. Well after another hour of my life lost thanks to this unit, I found the "App Backup and Restore" app online, downloaded it and got it installed and found my backup file...whew. So I have the primary apps back functional but still have some tweaking to do to get it back to pre-update status. From there I can start checking stability and overall performance of this latest release. Best luck to others out there when doing this update. Please be sure to share your experiences, good or bad, to the forum users and MyGica staff!
  7. ...and to top it off it appears the native App Backup and Restore is missing from this build. Now to figure out how to restore what I backed up.....grrr.......
  8. WARNING - THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA. I downloaded the img file and started the update which started flawlessly. The Updater App found the file first attempt, no need to hit the menu button a zillion times, and it started the install smoothly. When it was installing "wifi analyzer" which was listed as 2/8 to be installed, it froze. I waited 30 minutes and then I was able to reboot the unit using the remote, I didn't need to unplug it. When it came back on a welcome screen thanked me for purchasing the product and walked me through a new setup. YIKES! Everything, I mean everything is gone. I did do a backup before doing the update so now I am going to hope everything worked with the back up. I'll let you know how I make out but wanted to first warn others of my experience so far. Not a good start MyGica, not a good start.......
  9. Thank you to the MyGica support team on coming through as promised. Let's hope we are done with "testing" the 1900 and on with "using" it. I won't get to installIng this until tomorrow night at the earliest and will share my results but in the meantime I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's experiences. They came through, let's hope they delivered!
  10. sutta - for clarification are you saying Openelec is working good for you on the 1900? Sorry, I am a little confused by your post. I have held off testing it because of all of the problems well documented with this box. Any additional comment would be helpful. Thanks.
  11. As an update, I searched and found a solution to the video scaling issue when using Kodi in RCA @ reddit.com/r/kodi/comments/2qxrl9/doesnt_work_on_older_tvs/. Basically in the Kodi video acceleration setting you need to disable amcodec. I confirmed this works. So for my setup in order to have RCA work I need to unplug the HDMI and then disable the amcodec acceleration. Not perfect but okay until the screen cast ability in Android 5.2 is available in the new year (wink wink Justin). Hope this helps others....
  12. Thank you for this patch Justin, here is some feedback as requested. I do use the RCA output occasionally to send the MyGica screen to another TV in another room. I had always presumed the inability to use Kodi in RCA display was a resolution issue with Kodi itself. I installed this patch after upgrading to the latest Nov 19 firmware and I was able to see Kodi through RCA so the patch works. Having said this, it's still not quite right. The home screen for Kodi looks good but when I try to watch a video either through an Addon or through Live TV, the display is way off only showing the upper left portion of what should be the full display. I have altered the video settings and overscan settings within Kodi to no avail. I have also tried changing the display settings in the Mygica settings and no go. Not sure if I am missing something else but I was hoping this would be the bandaid solution until we have screen casting to a Chromecast receiver. I know this probably isn't the proper section to give other feedback but I'm not sure where to provide these next comments. I am finding the file listings and discussion threads On this website very confusing. For example, unless I'm missing it, I don't see a discussion thread committed to the November 18 update. It seems feedback is blended with the March update thread and is mixed in with the beta Android 5 update. The downloads themselves seem to be numbered in a confusing way. The most recent OTA update has a date of November 18 where as the one to download here is November 19. Are they actually the same? Anyways, I appreciate all you and the team do to support us users and you had mentioned at one point a while back that the website was going to be reorganized. Have a Merry Christmas and a great New Year for MyGica!
  13. I installed the 07-03 update posted and before testing I am now attempting the OTA update but it is taking a long time to download. I have rebooted several times and checked the ethernet connection and after almost an hour it is still only at 18%. I'm not sure if the server site is slow or something else at my end since updating to the newest FW? I'll let it dl overnight and see if it completes. Forgot to mention that I am saving the file to SD card which I have always used on my 582 and not had any read/write speed issues. Didn't try to save to cache and don't want to interrupt it now to see if it helps, I'm at 22% now! UPDATE: I let it run overnight and I applied the update successfully.
