Dr Proctor 1 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 I was wondering if it is possible to bring bluetooth option back to 4.2.2 My mini BT keyboard works great with 4.1.2. I want to have it in 4.2.2. Or is there a way in a command shell to turn bluetooth on. Thanks!
Dr Proctor 1 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 Ok who is still interested in this topic. You can turn on Bluetooth function back yourself. You need to open file explorer go to settings and turn root and mount / and system options on. Then you will be able to edit files under system folder. Go to system/etc/permissions/ and open tablet_core_hardware.xml for edit. Insert a line <feature name="android.hardware.bluetooth" /> anywhere under <permissions> Save file and reboot. Bluetooth option will be back. The reason is that 4.2.x moved from supporting a generic USB BT dongles to only Broadcom based ones for security reasons (cars implementation etc,). Unfortunately they also removed Universal BT support from a kernel. Here is a list of BT Broadcom USB dongles chipsets that may work BCM2076 BCM4330 BCM 4330B1 BCM4339a0 BCM20702 BCM40193b2 BCM43241b4.
