Cannot connect to network server - Kodi

Just got my 586 and setting up.  I'm a newbie to streaming devices and Kodi.  Set up network and verified in Kodi / system / system info.

When I add a source in system / file manager I get a message the 'can't connect to network server' then I'm offered to add it anyway, which I did.  And of course if I go to settings/ add ons / install from zip / then the source name, I get squat.

First off, is there a test source available?  the source I'm trying to enter is http://http://freeworlkodi.com/tochtonekodi.xmbc that I saw in youtube presentation.  I can get to that URL from my laptop but have no idea what the Kodi application is looking for.

If you are adding a source and you get the message " cant connect to network server"

This means that the URL you are trying to use is no longer active or does not exist anymore or no longer has the directory it is looking for.
