Massive stuttering, unwatchable

Coming from a raspberry pi I am generally familiar with Kodi. I have hard reset the 1800 numerous times and installed the latest firmware in hopes it would improve. Not so lucky.

I tried the previous firmware, installed Kodi from their website, all with the same terrible results.

Setup-1800 connects to stereo via hdmi, stereo to TV via hdmi. NAS streaming movies, tv shows via ethernet to 1800. Nothing has changed from when I used the rpi successfully.

All files whether they are sd or hd stutter to the point the movie has virtually stopped. Debugging CPU shows 30%. What is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting nowhere with this.

try to isolate the problem

remove stereo from the setup

try to play the movie from a USB stick
