atv 1800e power down/up

When powering off my 1800e with the remote that was supplied, the light on the unit turns red...,,Then I cannot turn the unit back on with the remote or using the power button in front of the unit. The only way I can get it to come back on is unplugging it and plugging it back in. Is this NORMAL ??

I had the same problem but with a kr34. I finally fixed it by performing a complete reset of my box.
