Done it 5 times and it doesn't get passed the Kitkat guy ! Useless !

Did you copy all of the files to the root of the SD card?

Is the SD card formatted to FAT32?

If so, when you hold down the reset button for 15+ secs, do the lights on the front of the unit flash between red and green?

    Hi Justin,

Seems your the main moderator of this site.
Please don't take this the wrong way,  just frustrated.

Here is a copy paste from the above help doc

    To upgrade your Android version;

    1. Download the zip file and put the file "update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120" onto a usb thumb drive or sd card.
    2. Insert the USB or SD card into the unit and navigate to the settings area.
    3. Click on "Software Updates" then "Local Update". If the file does not appear, click the "context" button 10 times. (the button with 3 lines)

After clicking this file, it will finish in less than 10 minutes, usually.

When I click the download button I receive a file named

    1900_pro_5.1_jan_20_new_boot.rar

In a past comment you mentioned unrar the file. I'm familiar with the application so I did and placed the loose files on a usb and tried the Local Update.
    That didn't work
In placed the loose files in a zip and I named it update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120.zip
The unit saw the file but gave an error because the zip wasn't signed properly.

I cannot get the unit to boot or stay at the main screen long enough for an update from the net.
The unit either reboots or displays the white screen with a red block "the system had an error an should reboot"
not the exact words but you know the screen I'm talking about.

My only thought now is to download the original previous firmware. boot up in recovery mode and reinstall the same firmware.
perhaps something became corrupt with all the reboots / unplugging and plugging.

You are supposed to just extract the 7 files and place them onto the root of an SD card if you want to use it as a boot card file

Or you can just extract the update_MyGica_s905_wv_5.1_20170120 .IMG file onto the root of an SD card or USB to install it from the UPGRADE app. This is mentioned in step #1

If the files do not appear within Local Update. Then you can try pressing the 3 lined menu button on the remote 10+ times

    Hey Justin,

I have unrarx for my mac.
My unit is so unstable I cannot get it to boot to the main menu with out it freezing.
I've done a factory reset as well.

My point is that the instructions above are wrong and misleading, users will become frustrated.

Please explain how the instructions are wrong and misleading??
