As I recall the root patch froze during the installation.  I pulled the power connector on the back and inserted it again after about 10 seconds or so.  The unit powered up to the home screen,  I checked to see if the unit was rooted and it was.

    Ok thanks for the feedback

May I know if you loaded it using USB or SD card?

I finally got around to updating my 1800e, wasn't in a rush as 4.4 was working fine for me but wanted to be able to use Krypton 17 in the future.  Anyway, the upgrade wasn't smooth as it stopped half way through and I had to pull the power and reboot the box.  The box came back up again and finished the upgrade without any further issues.  I also had the same issue when applying the Root patch.

So far so good, no problems at all with 5.1 and not getting the black screen issue when waking it up from standby. :)

    Good job MyGica!

    Good to hear

But may I know what the issue is exactly with applying the root patch?

    Hi Justin,

I wanted to say thank you for the update.  However, I am having trouble upgrading my box.

I have tried going through the Upgrade feature on the box.  I have tried refreshing the list by pressing the menu button 8 times but I am still unable to see the files on either the SD card or the USB stick.

I have also tried going through recovery mode but the unit seems to crash and I am unable to select any of the options listed on the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try the factory boot card files from here then

Instruction video is there as well

    Awesome ! Thank you.

    Any timelines available?

Also, it would be great to get an instructional video to go with the update unless it is being sent out OTA.

We fixed this issue on 1900 PRO and 495 PRO

After speaking to my team over the weekend, we cannot fix it on the 1800E/1900AC till after Chinese New Years, since their office closes after tomorrow for 2 weeks.

I think once the fix is ready, we will send it OTA.
If not, then I will get a how to video explaining how to do it.

My screen is frozen. My gica remote won't work. It has good battery in it. Please tell me what to do to unfreeze  screen.

               Thank you         Lorraine

Which model # of MyGica are you using?

Did you plug in the USB dongle that came with your remote control into one of the USB ports on your box?

    Good afternoon,

I was prompted to upgrade the firmware on my ATV586 from 20160516 to 20160518 or 19.  After the reboot, the box would not boot up. I restored the firmware to 20160513 because that is all I could find in your support section.

Now the main (home) screen flickers and has lag when moving the selection using the directional pad. Also, when turning the box on, it appears that I have 3 items selected on the main (home) screen - watch tv (aerial), kodi and browser. Only after moving the selection using the pad do I see what is actually selected but sometimes the selection moves to a totally different shortcut altogether.

I would like to know if I could get links to download both 20160516 and 20160518 or 19? I would like to try the 18 or 19 firmware but if it is not to my liking, I will revert back to 20160516.

Also, are there any plans to upgrade the OS on the ATV586 from Android 4.4.2 to 5.0?

    Thank you.

You can find the 0519 Download From here

    http://update.mygica.com/OTA/MyGica/ATV586A/update_Mygica_ATV586A_4.4_20160519.zip

We currently have no plans to upgrade the OS version past Android 4.4.

i have done 3 1800s now w the5.1.1 update aswell as the root update and nstools. system works great.. did a backup for each.. awesome.

my question is i have run all in interactive and performance mods at 600mhz and 812mhz . i find that they seem to work faster and smoother on the performance mod at 812mhz.  is this a bad choice to do or should i just stick to the interactive at 600..  thanks for the great info given here..

600mhz is the recommended speed from AMlogic, so therefore we follow this speed.

Once rooted I install NSTools its a free app that lets you change the CPU Scaling Governor. I set mine to interactive its like performance and keeps all cores active but allows the cores to idle lower when not active to reduce heat. When the CPU power is needed they all ramp up. Since i rooted and set to interactive with a min of 600 mhz on interactive the unit is WAY faster.  Hot plug stops cores as much as possible to save power and idles them as low as possible this is not a good setting for a always plugged in and always on android box as the unit uses a power brick and will draw the same power if its on or off.

here is the link for what i use.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.cyann.nstools&hl=en

here is the description of the governors I spoke of : (There are over 100 Governors )

    8: Interactive:

Interactive scales the clockspeed over the course of a timer set by the kernel developer (or user). In other words, if an application demands a ramp to maximum clockspeed (by placing 100% load on the CPU), a user can execute another task before the governor starts reducing CPU frequency. Because of this timer, Interactive is also better prepared to utilize intermediate clockspeeds that fall between the minimum and maximum CPU frequencies. It is significantly more responsive than OnDemand, because it's faster at scaling to maximum frequency.

Interactive also makes the assumption that a user turning the screen on will shortly be followed by the user interacting with some application on their device. Because of this, screen on triggers a ramp to maximum clockspeed, followed by the timer behavior described above.

Interactive is the default governor of choice for today's smartphone and tablet manufacturers.

    3: Performance:

The performance governor locks the phone's CPU at maximum frequency.

    21: Hotplug:

The Hotplug governor performs very similarly to the OnDemand governor, with the added benefit of being more precise about how it steps down through the kernel's frequency table as the governor measures the user's CPU load. However, the Hotplug governor's defining feature is its ability to turn unused CPU cores off during periods of low CPU utilization. This is known as "hotplugging."

    Great post here.

Thanks for sharing such detailed info for everyone to read

I installed the firmware using the factory restore method with no issues. I was disappointed to see that it was not pre rooted every MyGica I have ever set up for a client of mine has been rooted from the factory. There are some apps that I run that require root access. Other then that the CPU is set to hot plug and there is no need as hotplug stops cpus cores to save battery life and seeing as this is on a power brick 24/7 it draws the same amount of power if its on or off or even if the unit is unpluged from the barrel connection its not a good choice. Performance setting gives access to all cpu cores and a better user experience with the draw back of battery life and thats a non point as its a plug in box. can you send out a patch for both Root and change the CPU Scaling Governor to Performance.

Thank you for your progress so far

    Here is 1900AC/1800E - 5.1 Root patch

It can just be installed using the Upgrade App from USB or SD

Sorry we removed root because lots of apps do not work on rooted devices.

I'm just wondering , do I have to do this using a SD card or can I just download directly in browser? I'm not the least bit techy but I follow instructions well lol

If you want to use the boot card method/factory restore then an SD Card is required

Which is the first link of files.

If you want to just use the upgrade app with the IMG file, then an SD card or USB drive is ok

You can try this on 582 and see how it works.

    Let me know

    Thanks

    Also to add to this

The box you are referring to t95x, is using a much newer chipset S905X which comes with Android 6.0

The chipset in the ATV 582 is almost 3 years old, and they mainly only had support for it on Android 4.4

As I have said before, we rely on AMLogic the chipset manufacturer for Android OS updates.

  12. no, i meant

take the last DTV app that actually recorded

(because you broke the recording, according to the forum post)

    disable/bypass the UI

(because its broken and also rely on inconsistent EPG data anyway)

create the proposed UI that justs create or edit program recording times and does record the tv, calling/using the already wotking functions of recording the antenna tv shows

    USING STANDARD ANDROID UI elements

no photoshop graphic design elements that take hours to do but already provided UI elements that have been working since the birth of the android platform or whatever basic graphic elements you already have for standard text dialogs!!!!!

(or use the elements already designed in the mygica UI, geeze, stop trying to look good, your shit doesnt even work right now! youre selling a car that doesnt have a steering wheel that works!)

make this A NEW APP that doesnt require us to entirely reconfigure our mygica OVER AND OVER

    i call it tv recorder?

AND DONT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE FOR THIS DELIVERABLE! All your firmwares fix 2 things while breaking more!

THAT will resolve the issue, doesnt take 500 hours to do, and that doesnt rely on EPG guide you already know to be inconsistent!!

    Thanks for the comments

I have put fixing DTV player on high priority now.

    Will keep you guys updated.

  13. Yeah...I caved in, against my better judgment, which was to tolerate the bugs, enjoy the device for what it was doing well, and forego firmwares altogether. so I did update with the official site firmware: now my live tv and dtv guide is messed up, now i cant record at all. I know you know. ive read the forum posts. ill go against my emotions to flame here and try to contribute something constructive to the issue:

Guide is f### now.even if it worked ot wouldnt be viable:

You say yourself not all antenna channels distribute EPG data, so instead of rethinking a whole new guide graphic design, why dont you make us a simple dialog listing the following THAT ACTUALLY WORKS, REGARDLESS OF HALF AVAILABLE EPG DATA?

    1. list of entries

2 context dialog on an entry shows EDIT, CLONE,DELETE, with the usual X CANCEL

    3. edit entry shows: specify antenna channel, from time, to time, day, repeat weekly. OK button CANCEL button.

Im a digital artist and I can code this in Flash script, javascript, and php in a frakkin day!

    WHY IS THIS SO HARD?

    WHY IS THIS TAKING FOREVER?

it might not look all glamorous, but at least we could RECORD like we should, why should we? because i f$#@ payed you guys to be able to.

    (i SO f### knew it...)

I am fully aware of the guide issues as well as PVR.

    Still being worked on.

    As for redesigning the menus.

Its a lot harder when building them into an app.

One project that was done recently which is very similar to DTV Player took close to 500 hours to build from start to finish.

And this was taking PSD images and making them into an app with all the coding work put into it to make the app function properly.

  14. After reading through this post about 5 times, I am left wondering if updating the firmware is even worthwhile. I just set up my ATV586 two days ago, and it appears to be running V002M8B01_20151028 out of the box. With all of the back and forth between the contributors to this forum, I have some basic questions:

    1) What exactly is the newest stable release of the firmware, and does it contain the post release patches that appear to have been created since June?

    2) Besides the PVR functionality, are there any other features that are included besides Kodi 16?

    3) Does this address any other functional issues?

I ask because I don't appear to have any Bluetooth on my unit (turning on Bluetooth under the advanced settings, more settings, doesn't appear to be working. I turn it on and a second or so later, it appears to turn off again.) Looking at the device status, I see Ethernet and Wireless MAC addresses, but nothing for Bluetooth. All the product literature seems to indicate Bluetooth should be available, so this is not encouraging.

I am also experiencing issues getting 5.1/DTS audio to work through Kodi into my receiver. I have a fair bit of Kodi experience, but no combinations of changes within Kodi system-audio settings , or changing advanced settiings from PCM to HDMI passthrough in the device settings appear to work. I'm not sure that I've found the correct settiing that is compatible with my receiver, but before I contiinue to experiment, I wanted to confiirm that this device is capable of more than stereo-only output.

I have friends who retail competitive Android TV boxes, and I do some work on the siide with them configuring these devices. i was hoping to introduce them to this device, but I am apprehensive due to the lack of clarity in the support forum, and inconsistencies between the features shown on the packaging (i.e. Bluetooth), and what I am finding in the device once set up.

    Thanks.

    :|

In terms of taking a new update

Wait for the next one to come out.

It will have more things fixed and PVR feature added.

As for the Bluetooth not working, this was a misprint on the giftbox packaging. The 586 does not have Bluetooth.

We use the S805-B chipset on the 586, which means it is capable of Hardware Decoding Dolby through HDMI. So this should work for you.

  15. I'm using ATV1200 with 4.1.2 (Kernel 3.0.8 and Build number is V1.03.04).

    1. Can I upgrade it to 4.2.2? If not, can you send me link for firmware 4.1.2?

    2. These days I can not go to GooglePlay (although I clear Data/Cache of GooglePlay but this issue can not be fix). How can resolve this?

    Thanks.
