New 1800e - why so slow with speedtest?

My 1800e is a few weeks old and movie downloads are so slow and mostly won't start. I loaded speed test (Ookla) and it barely reaches 400kbps download speed, upload rate barely makes 240kbps. In comparison, my iPad running the same speedtest (Ookla) gets 14mbps download rate from the same wifi access point while I'm standing next to my 1800e. My Wifi signal strength says "Excellent" on my 1800e. What's going on here?

As an update to this, I replaced the 1800e wifi with a wifi bridge and used a direct Ethernet cable instead of the 1800e's wifi. It works much better and I get full internet speed now.

For anyone interested in this issue - bypass the 1800e wifi and use a direct Ethernet cable instead. If you have to use wifi, use a wifi bridge with two identical wifi access points configured in bridge mode. Works.

To Mygica, fix your wifi code in android 4.4.2.
