Update Broke ATV1800 - HELP!

I finally updated my ATV 1800E box with the Openelec update, having resisted losing my Android interface. It started freezing up so i attempted to reinstall the update and when I get to the reset options screen, it won't let me select anything. It doesn't seem to recognize any remote (I have 3 different ones) or it is frozen on that screen again.

Is there a way to reset to factory settings that doesn't involve using the remote?

I want to be able to use the box again. I can't do anything at all in this state.

How about plugging in a usb keyboard and/or mouse?

Tried the USB mouse. No dice. I haven't tried the keyboard, yet, but not getting my hopes up.
