How to detect a MyGica has hardware based DRM before buying?

Recommended Posts

Justin has mentioned that some Mygica devices have a hardware DRM rather than the standard software DRM. How can a person find out by reading the outside of the box if it has a hardware DRM. Can we go by the serial number, version or manufacture date. My next purchase will be with the hardware DRM, please tell us how we can do this. If the unit does have a hardware DRM will Netflix work with full HD and 5.1 Dolby or DTS or does Mygica have to set up

licensing with Netflix?

There is no way to add this to existing boxes because we have to embed a Widevine key into the box at the factory side in order for it to work. This is just how Widevine works, it is a hardware based DRM not software based like Playready 2.5.

None of the 1900s that have been sold as of this date have this.

We just added this recently, and it is still in testing stages only and not ready for production.

I have only 2 units in my possession with it working.
