2015 edition adds dual band wifi and bluetooth.

Both 2014 and 2015 use the same firmware/software.

is there a simple way to figure out if a ATV 1800E unit is a 2014 or 2015 model from the serial number or the Android settings?

The serial # has the manufactured date on it.

For the 1800Es that we have imported, the best way to determine if its 2014 or 2015 is this.

Serial #s look something like this. ATV1800201410300322

In there you see the #s 20141030 there this means the box was manufactured on Oct 30th 2014

All 2015 editions were manufactured for our batches on Oct 30th and after this.

Our new batch of units for all MyGicas come with serial # format that starts with the letters MV or MG, if you have a box with this serial #, then you should for sure have a 2015 edition.

Another way to tell, would be to go into other settings, and turn on Bluetooth. If Bluetooth stays on, then you have a 2015 Edition

No it does not.

The new firmware I received few days ago address's the ethernet and wifi issues.

Been testing it here for a few days on a lot of units, and it is all accurate so far.
