I just did this update for my ATV 582. It froze halfway through. I power cycled it and it completed the second time and it restarted. Once the UI was back up, I got some error about ir something died. Guessing it was a daemon for the remote? The remote seemed to work fine though. - wireless mouse much more responsive in what I tried. - still getting a blank screen in both flixster and cinemanow apps when I try to watch a movie I own. I get audio, but a black screen once the movie starts. Both worked perfectly before the last update. Very frustrating and a primary use for me of the box. Particulalrly as the USED to work just fine. - ctvGO app crashes regularly. I go to all shows, then click on a show, displays a new page and then crashes. Every time. Doesn't do that on my phone. - latest youtube app doesn't work well with the remote. You have a page for of videos, but you can no longer scroll down to get the videos off screen - latest netflix has similar problem. When clicking on a show, you get a list of episodes. You can't scroll down to the off screen episodes. For the above, seems they only respond to a flicking action. up/down arrows do nothing. Makes the remote useless. - it would be REALLY nice if the unit supported chromecast and screen mirroring. It allows one to access some apps that don't work well on the ATV.

When the 582 is working, it is quick. What I find is that after a bit it starts to get slow. The app starts responding slowly. Then not at all and I start getting the dialog "app not responding. wait or close?" and I have to power cycle to get things working again. Seems either a memory issue, multitasking issue, or some process just starts hogging the cpu cycles and forces everything else to wait. The 1200 seems much snappier because it did not display this behavior.

My update went smoothly but I am having a few problems: 1) I watch movies from my ultraviolet account via the flixster and the cinemanow app. It is the main reason I bought the ATV. Both worked before the update. Now, neither work. They both start to play the movie, but I now get sound but no video. I have picture using the app up to the point the movie starts and then the screen for both apps goes black and I get sound only. If this can't be fixed soon, I will have to return the box. 2) I use a touchpad with the ATV. It works fine most of the time, but if the device starts multitasking (such as it is doing heavy access to a USB drive) the cursor freezes and then jumps, then freezes and pretty much becomes unusable. The mouse response needs to be given _much_ higher priority. 3) I find the 582 multitasks very poorly compared to the 1200. If an app gets busy, the system just crawls even when I switch to another app. The 1200 never did this.
