  1. What's going on with these issues? A simple update is appreciated.
  2. Not sure how often you read through the forums, but thought I'd quote your last msg so you get notified. My post is directly above. ^
  3. Hey Justin, What's the news on these issues? Mainly the graphics problem? Will the updates be sent OTA? Can these issues be fixed? What's the status? I'm planning to get another 1-2 1800e's so want to see if I should hold off until these issues are fixed or not. Here's the issues again in order of importance. 1800e on 5.1 1. graphics issue 2. android screensaver problem (daydream) 3. no reboot option for alternate launchers 4. can't turn off android menu browsing sounds
  4. Okay, good. I'm surprised no one else reported this. I was told I was the first which means you're the second. I found a clear noticeable difference upon the first startup on 5.1 seeing the opening mygica animation. Whenever there's fast motion it feels like there's almost frames missing at times. Can't you guys just replicate the settings from 4.4 and transfer them to 5.1? I don't know much about the hardware/software, maybe it's more complicated than I imagine. But I guess they're working on it so will stay tuned for an update.
  5. Justin, I think you guys are talking about the same graphics issue I mentioned in my earlier post, but not entirely sure. I'm finding it's present whenever there's fast motion on the screen. If you watch the mygica opening animation on 4.4 for 1800e vs. 5.1 for 1800e, you'll very noticeably see the difference. Whenever there's fast motion it plays kind of jerky. Did you end up looking into this?
  6. Yeah this is a great solution and didn't occur to me. I didn't realize how little power the box uses. At 10 watts, it uses about $10 for the year if left on the whole year, which is pretty minor. I think I'll probably keep it on 24/7 even after the standby issue is fixed. I use the rii i8+ remote that can't power the box on/off, so have to use the mygica kr-40 remote to power it on/off. But leaving the box on 24/7 eliminates the need to use the kr-40 remote at all, making the box more user friendly. So I'm really satisfied with this fix because it solves two problems for me, standby issue, and eliminates secondary remote.
  7. Sounds good. 2. My paragraph was broken apart so maybe it was difficult to understand the last part of problem 2. But is it possible to add a reboot option to be used in 5.1 in alternate launchers like it was available in 4.4? I guess I could unplug/replug the box to achieve this, but I think a reboot option would be much more ideal and better for the system. 3. If you guys can figure out a way to stop this screensaver from coming on when watching video content, that would be great. The kodi screensaver doesn't come on when watching video content, so don't understand why this one does. I'd rather use the android screensaver over the kodi one because it will work in kodi and outside of it. There must be a way to do this as the standard for a screensaver is for it not to go on when watching video content.
  8. 1. Here's my prior comment about the graphics issue: Since I've upgraded from 4.4 to 5.1 on 1800e I've found the box runs much more efficient and in a sense smoother, 'but' there's something off with the graphics, refresh rate, frame rate, or something else. On 4.4 when you'd boot it up the mygica logo opening graphics visual would look flawless. Now on 5.1 it looks sort of pixelated. This also goes for watching video as well, something seems slightly off. I wouldn't call this a lag because it's constantly off. It's not a sometimes it's off and sometimes it isn't problem, but is constant. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the system being overloaded, as I said the system runs smooth. I switched the settings to 720p at 60hrz and it seems to run slightly smoother. This is something you guys may want to look into along with fixing the standby issue. 2. I use square home tablet launcher. I've found a widget within it that serves the same purpose as the brush tool, so that's great. It's an image of the mini android task killer icon. In addition could you guys add a shortcut or app to reboot the system? This was present in android 4.4 through an alternate launcher, but is not available in 5.1. 3. In the android launcher > settings > display > daydream 4. There is no 'other sounds' option in the sound and notification setting menu. Not sure why you can see it but I can't? I'm on 5.1 - 1800e. 5. No problem. I'll use the main one, which can access the other one when I need to.
  9. I think I figured out the amp question I asked from the info provided on the bottom of the box. dc power 5v-2a, so the box runs at 10 watts if I'm right. Either way, will take your word on it using a couple dollars of energy a year. Just leaving the box on 24/7 is a very viable solution to this problem and never occurred to me. In addition to a couple notes I gave for 5.1 on 1800e about a 'graphics' problem, and making the paint brush tool/reboot option compatible with alternate launchers, which you can see in my past comments; here are a couple other things I noticed which you may want to look at seeing if you can fix along with the standby issue: - After applying the android screensaver option, it still turns on when watching video content in kodi. Windows computers and cell phones (or mine at least) don't do this. Is there a way to stop this? - Can't find a option to disable menu sound effects when browsing through android menu(s). I don't think there is one, unless if it's hard to find. Maybe one can be added? - There's two setting menus in the android launcher which is confusing and a bit annoying. Can you merge them into one?
  10. Great. Am curious, do you know what the actual amps are of the 1800e?
  11. Great update. Thanks for sharing what's happening. In regard to your P.S. suggestion, does the box consume more power when on vs. being in standby mode? (ie. does leaving the box on 24/7 run up your electrical bill?)
  12. I haven't heard any kind of detailed update on what's going on with this standby issue on 1800e. If your device can't turn on and off, this is considered a BIG problem. Imagine owning a Sony or Samsung tv that can't serve the basic function of turning off and on. The worst part about this is how silent mygica has been about this issue. It's absolutely horrifying. Why not give an update of what's going on? Are you guys working to fix the problem, not working to fix it? Is it a really complicated problem? Does the technical team not know how to fix it? Any kind of update would be good here, other than just silence. Also I'd highly recommend putting your firmware updates on an actual webpage so customers don't have to read through forums for hours. And if the firmware is unstable, just mark it in the notes, and summarize what your status is with fixing it.
  13. I called tech support about the standby issue on android 5.1 for 1800e, and he said they're going to do an over the air update for it but doesn't know when. Don't know any specifics beyond what he said. I imagine they'll give an update through this thread soon, and hopefully the issue won't take too long to resolve. A detailed update on this would be great!

  15. Yes, I'm experiencing the standby issue. I upgraded my 1800e box from android 4.4 to 5.1 using the instructions in the video you posted, except I used the file from this thread which is more recent. Its date in its filename is 20161121. When I put the box in standby mode it does this fine and the light on the 1800e box turns red. When I turn it back on the the red light will change to green but the screen will be black. If I try to put it back into standby mode from the black screen, it won't do it. The light will stay green, and I'll have to reboot the box by unplugging the cord. This is the same problem that many people on this thread have reported. Any idea of how to fix this issue?
  16. Yes it is in the mygica launcher, but I'm using the square home tablet launcher (interface) available from the google play store. I like the navigation and customization of it a little more. But the paintbrush tool can't be accessed through the square home tablet launcher which is why I'm asking if you can create an app icon for it so I can add it manually. Android 4.4 had a reboot shortcut that could be put onto the home screen launcher manually, so if either a reboot option or the paintbrush tool could be added as a shortcut or app icon option to add manually, it would be great. Also any idea of what's going on with the standby issue on 1800e?
  17. Thanks for your response. I'm familiar with advanced task killer and will use that. I understood the paint brush tool serves the same function as restarting the system, which cleans it up, so thought it would be good to have. But if advanced task killer is the best solution by doing it manually then I'll use that. I didn't actually realize it does the same thing, but makes sense, thanks for pointing that out. And how about the standby issue on 1800e? Is there a fix still being worked on? Any idea of when a fix will be ready?
  18. I just upgraded my 1800e to android 5.1 using the IMG file at the beginning of this thread through the upgrade app and am having the same standby issue everyone else has reported. I've disconnected/reconnected the remote dongle, and clicked the brush (clear cache) tool to try and repair it, as some said this helped them. But hasn't fixed the problem. I haven't tried the patch file in this thread, because everyone's been saying it doesn't fix the standby issue on 1800e. For mygica team: Could you guys create a widget or app icon for the paintbrush (clear cache) tool, so it can be used on different interfaces? I use square home tablet, and am not able to access the paintbrush tool on this interface. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any way to fix this standby issue on 1800e and can help, that would be great.
