ATV586 frozen during update

Recommended Posts

The ATV586 said it needed an update today, so I clicked yes.

It seemed to update OK for about 10 minutes (green robot with spinning tummy)

Then it froze - still see the green robot but the tummy stopped spinning - and has been frozen for about 30 minutes.

Should I unplug it?

It is connected on WiFi, I guess I can't switch to ethernet now.

?!?!?!?

I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it seemed to start normally and work normally.

So it is all OK?

I think it got the update. The build is ...20151101

It asked to update again (2nd time) this time with a list of the upgrades

But it froze again, i unplugged it

Now I am stuck at a recovery screen

I think I need to download something onto a USB stick?

Where do I get the download from?

I am still stuck at the recovery screen.

I have reset to factory settings, and used the reset button (toothpick hole) 5 times.

Still just get recovery screen.

Do I need files downloaded on a USB or SD card?

Where do I get these files?

I guess I will use my 10-year-old Pioneer DVR to record shows for now. It still works, unlike some products I could name.

Amazon has sent me a request to post a review on my purchase of the ATV586.

If I am stuck at the recovery screen, my review will be less than favorable.

Send me email to support@mygica.ca

I will send you files to upgrade through the recovery screen, and you will then be able to reboot into Android

I tried to upgrade my ATV586 through the system update and it got frozen during the process.

Now I start the system and it gets frozen at the beginning (Android kit kat logo).

The factory reset hole doesn't work, it is no use.

What can I do??

Thanks,

Marc

Marc,

Mine was like that too at some point. You might need to try the reset hole a few times.

(Press and hold the reset button while you plug in the power, and keep holding the button for about 12 seconds or more)

Eventually this might get you to the recovery screen.

From there you might be able to reset or reboot, or you might need a recovery file from MyGica.

Send an e-mail to support@mygica.ca

They sent me a recovery file and it seems to work (for now)

I don't know if I can post the link for the file they sent me.

If this is a common problem, why doesn't MyGica post the file here?

MM

Thank you MM.

I've followed your advice of "press and hold the reset while plug in the power and wait for 12 seconds" but I find no way to access to the recovery screen.

:-(

Ok, I will send e-mail, too.

Good luck!

Marc
