Can't sign in to google play store

Recommended Posts

I keep getting a message saying that there is a problem connecting to google servers.

I don't think its actually a google problem. It seems to be a problem with the 1900ac. I can sign in with any other device without any problems.

I did a factory reset and I still can't log in.

Any advice?

Strange.

I just bought the box. I wonder if it was old stock? I've programmed 3 other 1900 boxes and they all worked fine after a factory reset.

Can I used a USB stick to do the update or does it have to be a micro SD?

I have 2 1900 boxes and the micro SD card doesn't sit right when inserted. It just falls out and doesn't lock in.

I tried doing a manual update to the latest firmware using the restore function and a USB stick with the image file on it.

When I tried updating from EXT and selected the USB, it didn't recognize as there being any file on the stick.

The stick was formatted on my MacBook using FAT file system.

You can use USB for firmware update or Micro SD

If Micro SD is not fitting right, it is because you have to put it upside down.

Because the PCB board inside the 1900 casing is upside down.

You will notice this is the same for the HDMI connection.

USB should be formatted to FAT 32

If it does not recognize anything

Press the 3 lined menu button on the remote 10+ times

The update should then appear.

I just updated to the feb 19 version of the software successfully.

To verify i went to settings then about and scrolled down to the build which shows 20160229

I still can't sign in to my google account to update or download any apps.

This is getting very frustrating. The previous 2 1900AC boxes that I programmed did not have this problem.

I'm not sure what to do now.

I just checked the firmware on another one of my 1900AC boxes and it is 20160527

Is there a downloadable version of this software that I can try?

I just changed the box to wifi from ethernet to see if it would make a difference.

As soon as I changed it to wifi the box auto updated itself to the 20160527 just like my properly functioning 1900AC.

I tried logging in to the google play store and I still get the same message:

Could't sign in

There was a problem communicating with Google servers

Try again later.

No matter what I try, I can't log in.

I'm not sure what else to try.

Hi Guys

Also having this same problem

Just bought the unit today and not being able to log into google play is hampering the enjoyment somewhat.

Have done factory reset, reboot and set up existing and new account to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Phil

Sorry it seems this issue has been posted in so many different threads

I acknowledged it a few days ago

We got this patch to fix this

It will be sent out as OTA update straight to the box within the next day or so

If you cannot wait, you can download it from here and install it manually

No problem

Sorry about the hassle with this though

This is something that should not have happened to begin with.

The downloadable patch changes the way the box connects to Google Play. It seems to work when installed manually.

The OTA crashes and I could only recover by reinstalling Feb 29 firmware.

I have personally installed the new OTA update onto about 40pcs of 1900s so far without fail.

So what is happening exactly when crashing for you?
