Adding fonts to XBMC?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

It seems XBMC can't decode any Asian characters right now.... any suggestions on how to get it to read it?

Thanks.

By changing the language setting within XBMC settings menu, should fix this, as it is defaulted to English.

I tried... when I changed the default from English to Chinese Traditional, the menus disappear... when I change the character set to Chinese Big 5, nothing changed...

file names still not showing up....

Have you tried this using XBMC on a PC or MAC?

I have encountered a similar issue when trying to setup an Arabic Add on for a friend, and we were unable to get the Arabic Language to appear properly. So we assumed this was an issue with XBMC when you switch the default language.

I even got the same thing when I tried the add on, on XBMC running on a Windows 7 Laptop.

Justin,

I think I solved the issue...

on the kodi forums, someone found a similar issue... and provided the solution.

The answer is actually pretty simple.... switch the default font to Arial, which is included.... once I did that, both my Mac's XBMC and the 1800e's XBMC can see non-latin based characters....

Ok thanks for sharing this info.
