The 1800 is an Android Set Top box. Whereas the nividia Tegra x1 is a chipset processor

The nvidia Tegra chipset is a big difference over AMLogic S802

Nvidia has a Octa Core CPU running at 64Bit. HDMI 2.0 and 4K@60FPS. And supports a lot more to.

Well it can handle 60FPS, so if you are watching video content that is 60FPS then yes the playback would be smoother.
