Lost Apps After Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Today, I upgraded my 1800 firmware to the latest version (11/05/2014). I backed up my apps beforehand.

I follwed the instructions in the video included in the news post about this upgrade.

There was some kind of failure, folowed by some erasing (after selecting to install from the sd card) and then, I was able to select the image from the sd card and the upgrade succeeded.

But when I went to restore my apps, there was nothing to restore.

So I have to re-install and setup all of these apps.

Help. Hopefully, I won't have to go through this everytime I upgrade.

There seems to be no alternative but to back up to internal memory. Is this correct?

This is frustrating.

You must do the update the proper way using all the files on the SD card. Make sure it is formatted to FAT 32. Just loading the IMG file on its own will not update the box properly.

And yes it is best to backup your apps onto an SD card. If they were downloaded from the Play store, you can just re install them afterwards by using the same Play store account. Just go to My apps, in the Play Store and you will see all of the apps you have downloaded so far on that account, and from here you can re install them.
