How do you hook up the atv520e to work with my Harmon kardon HDMI receiver its a 5.1 channel and I want it to go thru this for surront sound please help

Try using HDMI to your Harmon Kardon to get surround sound.

If your Harmon Kardon does not have this, then you would need Optical Audio output, which is only supported on our ATV 1200 model.
