Weird Black Bars?

OK not sure if the problem is with XBMC or the new firmware ( still have a few tests to try ) has anyone else noticed big black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? No not the normal ones lol. These ones actually cover part of the movie ... they were never there before. Just noticed them showing up now. I remember reading someone else having the same issue but I also dismissed it as normal cropping. Now I cannot find the post ( don't think it was on this forum ) Other than that I am happy with this update ( DAM SCREEN SAVER LOL )

Those bars don't go all the way to the end on either side, right? Also some movies have them and some don't. Same problem reported by Minix x8 users, probably AmLogic chipset problem.

That's right ... so this is a firmware issue I'm guessing. I knew I read something about them somewhere. They are like the old FCC blocks lol

The 09/06 and 09/18 firmware upgrades fix the problem that you are having, as long as you factory reset to let XBMC 13.2 install.

If you did not take either of these updates yet, then you will have to wait for the OTA update to be sent down again, as China is on a National Holiday till Wed, and therefore I cannot get an update as to when this will be sent down again.

I took the 9/16 update .. but no I didn't do the factory reset ( wasn't looking forward to resetting all of XBMC up again lol ) Guess I will wait till the apk is post and start again.

Those weird black bar overlays are still there, MyGica 13.2 does not fix the problem even tried kodi 14.3, same problem. The strange thing is it only happens with movies (even full screen movies with no bars will have these thin black bars top and bottom), not series though, they play proper fullscreen, the way I get rid of them is to scroll from the "normal" aspect ratio setting back to normal. This is a temp fix until u watch the next movie, then I must do it all over again. I have tried changing several settings to no avail. Anybody have some advice for me?

You will see those same lines on some movies even vertically on both sides.

Once again all AmLogic devices experience this.

Another thing I would like to know, when in the stock android launcher display how do the pull downs work using the supplied stock remote in mouse mode, I get slight movement there but cant pull them down?

The android stock launcher is basically a Tablet Launcher, which means a lot of the controls for it are meant for touch devices, and to duplicate touch functions when using it on a TV screen in a Android box version, you will need a external computer mouse or external mouse and keyboard with the physical use of a mouse or air mouse to be able to pull down the menu you want to pull down.

As for the black bars, this is an AMlogic thing, I have informed Mygica about this already weeks ago, and have been told its something they are waiting on AMlogic to fix.

From my digging it looks like this problem first showed its ugly face back in July. It's now Oct .... I have doubts that AMlogic is seriously working on a fix any longer...

What codec are you trying to watch, as I noticed this before on previous updates but do not notice this anymore.

Also which version of XBMC are you trying this on?

@Justin XBMX is currently 13.1 I tried to factory reset this box and it grabbed a network download. However it only installed the 09/25 .. no XBMX I could really use the apk file

I tried it at 13.1 and switched off the HDMI and it didn't work for me Also try and uninstall Facebook .. and restart the system. The automatic reinstall bug is back lol

Ya I'm going to need an APK of 13.1 ... cause 13.2 is completely messed up. I cannot even use my tv server any longer it crashes as soon as I try and enable live TV and I cannot install any PVR addons. I will be completely honest I am seriously starting to regret getting this " new " box. My old one just randomly died for no apparent reason now I cannot get this thing stable enough to use it.

I took hdmi auto off as suggested, doesn't help, black bar overlays remain, the overlay looks exactly like the overlay when u push the OK button on the remote without the wording. (ie no stop, play fwd, etc), and the exact same size. I still would like to know why it doesn't happen with series though?

Yes I have noticed that TV series won't do it either. Buggy to say the least.
